Meet Our Founder

Christy Lemaster

My career is rooted in small business. At 15, my first job in a gourmet fast-food restaurant taught me how to work in a fast-paced environment, provide excellent customer service, and maintain quality under pressure.

My curiosity about technology began even earlier. My neighbor worked with phone systems and cabling. We loved turning scraps of colorful cable into bracelets – our own fashion statement in the ’80s. He later became my first boss in telecommunications and a mentor.

As a kid, I taught myself BASIC programming on a Commodore 64. When dial-up internet arrived, I spent hours configuring modems until everything worked. Hearing that connection to AOL felt like the whole world opening up.

After high school, I joined my neighbor’s telecommunications company while attending college. I truly learned the business from the ground up – answering phones, handling shipping and receiving, and typing invoices on a typewriter.

As a young woman entering a male-dominated industry, I had to advocate for the opportunity to do technical work. It took a couple of years to convince my boss, but eventually I received technical training and began working in the field. I installed cabling, built computers, and configured business phone systems. I went on to train in A+, Microsoft systems engineering, Bogen paging, and Avaya phone systems, from small-business platforms to enterprise systems.

In 2003, I trained at Avaya headquarters on its IP Office platform and soon completed what I learned was the first Avaya IP Office installation in Orange County. I later helped build an IT startup into a one-stop shop for voice and technology solutions. I loved the technical challenges, but I especially valued understanding my clients’ businesses, solving their challenges, and becoming their trusted technology advisor.

After surviving stage 2 ovarian cancer, I stepped away, traveled, and reconsidered what I wanted from life and work. I founded indietech in 2012 with renewed purpose. In 2014, I earned my California C-7 Low Voltage Systems Contractor license.

Today, I bring three decades of experience to every client relationship. I am also a Kundalini yoga teacher, sound healer, drummer, and board member of Vozes da Floresta, a nonprofit supporting Indigenous communities who protect the Amazon rainforest.

At indietech, we do our thing so you can do yours.

Since joining the company in 2022, she has supported many of the day-to-day functions that keep the business running smoothly, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, client and vendor communications, and administrative operations. In her current role, she has expanded her focus to include marketing initiatives, website content, and process oversight while continuing to serve as a key connection between indieTECH and its clients, vendors, and partners.

Throughout her career, Mackenzie has worked with small businesses, nonprofit organizations, and public education, developing a versatile skill set and a strong appreciation for organization, communication, and meaningful relationships. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Foreign Languages from the University of New Mexico and has also studied at IPAG Business School in Nice, France. Outside of indieTECH, Mackenzie serves her community as a Parks & Recreation Commissioner for her hometown, where she contributes to the planning and future development of local parks and recreation opportunities. Her greatest joys are her family, friends, and curling up with a good book.  Mackenzie is guided by a deep appreciation for connection- between people, community, and our environment- which she brings to her work with indieTECH.

Testimonials

Nancy Crandall | General Manager/SEKO Logistics/Los Angeles

indieTECH is an efficient and reliable source of voice and IT solutions for our company. They have been able to service a broad range of needs while always remaining flexible, cost effective, and most importantly fast. We have been working with Christy for 14 year. Her competency, ability to think outside the box, and willingness to work within tight budgets has made her an invaluable and trusted partner for us.

Connie, Ralph’s Grocery

We just finished working with a company called indieTECH. They helped repair a problem with our paging system… coincidentally involving routing music over our paging system. They did a very good job at a good price, and they have an excellent working knowledge of various paging systems and how they interact with our communications systems.

B&Y Global Sourcing

I’m an office manager for a small apparel company. Hiring indieTECH has been one of my best decisions I’ve made for all our IT/phone issues. They are responsible, knowledgeable, all around great to work with. I highly recommend them for all IT and phone issues.

Josh Sasson | Digital Assets Manager, Reset Content

I have nothing but superlative things to say about IndieTECH. The service we’ve received from our tech Christy has been nothing short of outstanding. On every occasion we’ve had her out here to resolve an issue or help configure new options, the experience is always extremely professional, efficient and pleasant! I honestly can’t recommend Christy and IndieTECH enough.
